Qualifications
- Committed Christian with a clear understanding of the Reformed faith.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in an education related field; or the equivalent experience to perform the duties of the DCE. A seminary degree is preferred, though not a requirement.
- Passion for Christian education
- Experience in Christian leadership
- Must pass a background check.
- Good communicator
- Basic technological competence (Word/Excel/GoogleDocs, email, etc.)
- Competence in the use of social media and digital platforms is preferred.
- Capacity for teamwork with characteristics and qualities necessary for working harmoniously, effectively, and confidentially with pastor, associate pastor for church planting and church leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Christian Education will be responsible for working with the Christian Education Committee and pastor to organize and resource Bartow Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church’s education program, with emphasis on children and youth, as well as to train church members for the task of teaching and leading Christian Education in a shared capacity.
Responsibilities
- Oversight and coordination of all children and youth activities (K-12th grades). To include, but not limited to, Wednesday night ministries, Sunday School, Sunday nights, VBS, service projects, denominational camps.
- Assist with Bible teaching as needed, where appropriate, (i.e., K-12th grade Sunday School, Sunday and Wednesday evening youth and children’s programs). This position is not intended to be the sole teacher or to replace existing adult volunteers.
- Recruit and train children and youth ministry volunteers. Pray for, encourage, recognize, and involve them in decision making.
- Serve as the Ministry Safe Coordinator.
- When needed, coordinate with the pastor the scheduling of communicant’s classes.
- Annually prepare and effectively manage the Christian Education Ministry Budget while working with the stewardship committee and Diaconate.
- Coordinate education and special programming with the Christian Education Committee (CEC).
- Acquiring and adapting curriculum materials to conform with the Reformed tradition.
- Recruiting, training, and supporting teachers and volunteers.
- Acquiring and organizing necessary study supplies
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers on annual fundraising activities for youth activities.
- Create and submit bulletin update , newsletter, digital communications, or publication of the activities of the Christian Education Ministry by working with our church administrator.
- Create and curate content to promote Bartow ARPC ministries and opportunities on relevant digital platforms.
- Communicate consistently with parents, volunteers, staff, and Session as well as provide the tools they need for spiritual leadership.
- Oversee the nursery workers, conduct annual review, and update their position description.
