JOB DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW:
North Creek Presbyterian Church, Coconut Creek, FL, seeks a person grounded in reformed theology who has a heart to reach out to the community, relate to the changing younger demographic, and share generalist ministerial responsibilities within the church including overseeing the spiritual feeding of the members through the ministry of the Word and prayer, tending the flock through pastoral care, and leading members along the vision and direction of the church.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Preaching and Shepherding
- Lead and assist with preaching during weekly Sunday morning worship. Lead the liturgy, congregational prayer, and administration of the sacraments as needed.
- Provide pastoral spiritual care and encouragement for church members through the various seasons of their lives.
- Assist in teaching God’s Word in Sunday School and/or children’s ministries, ensuring that spiritual growth needs are met for members and seekers alike.
- Assist in ensuring the peace and purity of the congregation.
Leadership and Administration
- Maintain consistent devotional practices resulting in a consistent and faithful walk with God – setting an example of godliness for all.
- Lead and cultivate discipleship ministries to multiply, mature, and equip disciples to help individuals move from unbelief to belief, belief to maturity, and maturity to ministry multiplication. Select, recruit, train and develop volunteer leaders within the church.
- Equip the congregation to use their gifts and passions to serve as part of the body of Christ.
- Serve as a model of spiritual maturity through evangelism, hospitality, character, spiritual vitality, and self-control.
- Create vibrant communities of families that provides a context for people to encourage one another in similar life stages.
- Develop and present an annual Ministry Plan with a proposed schedule and calendar of events. Conduct a semi-annual review of the effectiveness of events, curriculum, and initiatives.
- Full time, salaried, exempt position reporting to the Senior Pastor.
- Serves on the Session with the teaching and ruling Elders to contribute to the development of programs supporting the vision and mission of the ministry.
Gifts and Competencies
- Must be able to preach clear, expository, Christ-centered sermons with contemporary application.
- Must have gifts in discipleship and training.
- Must be able to teach.
- Must demonstrate a proficiency in written communication.
- Must be able to enlist, coordinate, and lead staff and volunteer efforts.
- Must exhibit an eagerness and ability to share the gospel with non-Christians.
- Must be comfortable working as a part of a team.
- Must have history of handling interpersonal conflicts according to biblical principles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must exhibit maturity as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
- Master of Divinity Degree with Greek and Hebrew with a focus on reformed theology.
- Must be licensed or ordained in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church or eligible for ordination.
- Genuine love for Christ and proven consistency in walking with Him.
- A passion to make disciples among all ages through a desire to communicate with all.
- A desire to co-labor as a part of a ministry team.
- Ability to teach and communicate God’s Word and initiate ministry in new areas.
- People oriented and intuitive toward the needs of others. Able to provide flexible care oriented to individuals and their current situational needs. Comfortable with the ambiguity and messiness that comes with entering the fray with others.
- Willing to learn – closely work with the current Head Pastor in each of the above areas to insure a smooth transition.
